Standardizing Government Aviation Fuel Procurement.

The Aviation Into-plane Reimbursement (AIR) Card® program provides U.S. Government air crews a standard mechanism with which to purchase aviation fuel and ground services at commercial airports, worldwide. In addition to Department of Defense (DoD) military aircraft, the program also supports Federal Civilian entities as well at some state and local government entities under the 1122 program.

The AIR Card® program utilizes a plastic card, similar to a commercial credit card, to streamline the purchase of both aviation fuel and non-fuel purchases made at any commercial airport. Further, the AIR Card® program enables air crews to obtain aviation fuel and related services at contracted airports as well as non-contracted airports.  This single payment method gives the Defense Logistics Agency—Energy (DLA-Energy) sufficient transaction data to leverage AIR Card® volumes and negotiate price discounts with merchants on behalf of participating branches of service.
